After Thanksgiving

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Well, as much as I wanted to, I didn’t lose anything this week. In fact, I gained 2.2 pounds. However, I suspected I’d be up, so I made a decision not to beat myself up about it no matter what the scale said. 2.2 is higher than I wanted, but it doesn’t undo all the work I’ve done since I got serious about it.

Our local Y wasn’t open the day after Thanksgiving which put a crimp in my workout plan for the week. I planned to go Wednesday but I worked hard in the kitchen trying to get some of the side dishes and the pies done. Beloved said all that work should count.

The Boy was sick Wednesday night, throwing up his hot dogs from dinner, and he dozed most of Thanksgiving morning after throwing up a cinnamon roll. I ended up watching the end of the Macy’s parade with a little boy sleeping on the couch, Beloved (who isn’t a parade fan) on his computer in the rec room and the Girl in her room. She loves parades and was the one who insisted on cinnamon rolls, but she can only take about a hour of the parade before choosing to read her book instead. I, on the other hand, LOVE the Macy’s parade (and the Tournament of Roses one, too) so I stuck it out.

Poor little guy didn’t get any Thanksgiving meal but our guests (co-workers of Beloved and from the Middle East, Denmark and Greece) enjoyed it. The highlight for me was when the young lady from Greece raved about the green bean casserole! Simple green bean casserole from the back of the French’s can! She even took the leftovers with her because her boyfriend was coming from Greece and she wanted him to taste it!

She also took a copy of each of my books, so that was nice, too!

I’m back to my regular work out schedule. I did an hour today on the bicycle. My knees are a little sore from that, so maybe I’ll do the elliptical tomorrow.

How was your holiday?

93 minutes at the Y!

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

I’ve been pretty good so far this week. Beloved is in Reno at Supercomputing 07, but will be home tomorrow.

I worked out for 93 minutes at the Y this morning – 33 on the elliptical and 60 on the bike. I really don’t want to go into Thanksgiving week with my weight up.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, my husband considers the day sacred, which means you don’t worry about calories or points or anything. You can read why this is so at my main blog. However, the upshot of that is we have a 22 pound turkey thawing in the fridge! He wants five side dishes at least, and probably at least two pies! Fortunately for me, the Y should be open all week except Thursday and maybe Friday.

Also, as my WW leader says, you can’t really do TOO MUCH damage in one day! She hasn’t seen my family eat though! I usually don’t overdo too much since much of the traditional dishes aren’t really my favorites, although I do LOVE turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy! YUM!
